“Uma longa e difícil jornada com a arte” seria a tradução mais próxima para este título com o qual nomeio esta exposição que apresenta um resumo da minha caminhada de mais de 50 anos através da arte. Acredito que o artista o é de nascença ainda que, o dar conta desta natureza, lhe tome anos de vida. Inconscientemente sua formação se inicia desde a mais tenra idade e é fruto da sua necessidade de responder ao entorno e à sua carência existencial: sua vontade de conhecer o mundo, os seres e as matérias que os compõem. Impulsionado pela sua energia interior e questionado pela efemeridade da vida e pelo sentimento do inalcançável enfim, pela melancolia. O artista cria para compreender,aceitar ou até mesmo tentar superar e romper o limite humano da sua insignificância perante o universo. Só através do exercício da arte, nesta longa e às vezes penosa jornada, é que tenho sido capaz de atenuar meu temperamento, minhas carências, arrefecer o ego, moldar minha personalidade e aproximar-me da minha essência. Através do caminho da arte, das experiências e conclusões e conhecimentos daí advindos, venho escrevendo a minha história: encontrando, revelando e registrando os mitos que nos regem e os sinais que preservam e referenciam os homens.

 

Apresentamos com essa exposição uma seleção de obras que resumem uma escolha de realizações dentro dessa trajetória.

“A Long and Hard Journey with Art” It would be the closest translation to this title by which I name this exhibition which summarizes my more than a 50-year journey through art.

I believe that the artist is born even though, to realize this nature, takes years of life. Unconsciously their formation begins from an early age and is the result of their need to respond to their surroundings and their existential need: their desire to know the world, the beings and the materials that compose them.

Driven by his inner energy and questioned by the ephemerality of life and the feeling of the unreachable at last, by melancholy. The artist creates to understand, accept or even try to overcome and break the human limit of his insignificance towards the universe.

Only through the exercise of art in this long and sometimes painful journey have I been able to soften my temper, my needs, cool my ego, shape my personality, and draw closer to my essence. experiences and conclusions and knowledge from it, I have been writing my story: finding, revealing and recording the myths that govern us and the signs that preserve and refer men.
